Upgrade the auxiliary heater of your VW T6.1 to a parking heater.
Suitable for the following vehicles with auxiliary heater:
- VW T6.1 - Climatic
- VW T6.1 - Climatronic
Description
With our upgrade kit, you can upgrade the existing auxiliary hot water heater to a parking heater. We use our ‘CAN gateway T6.x’ for the upgrade. This gateway is simply connected to the existing plug connection under the driver's seat using a vehicle-specific Y-cable. No modifications to the vehicle or software updates to the auxiliary heater are required.
Why to choose our auxiliary heater upgrade kit?
- Simple installation.
- Preheated cooling water, no cold engine starts in winter.
- Warm interior and ice-free windows.
- No software update of the auxiliary heater required.
- low power consumption when the heater is switched off.
- suitable for leasing vehicles, the upgrade can be easily removed again.
- Stationary ventilation in summer. (Only possible in conjunction with the APP control or an additional switch).
control of the interior fan
To ensure that the warm air reaches the interior through the air vents on the windscreen, the interior blower must be activated during auxiliary heating operation. There are two options for this:
1) Simple blower control (standard)
Here, a control module is connected to the plug on the rear of the air conditioning control unit. To do this, two cables must be unplugged from the connector and one cable must be laid from the air conditioning control unit to the CAN gateway under the driver's seat. Depending on the interior of the vehicle, this can be quite complex.
2) Blower control Plug&Play
A control module is also connected to the plug on the back of the air conditioning control unit. However, the connection is Plug&Play with a vehicle-specific Y-cable. There is no need to unplug the cables and lay the cable to the CAN gateway under the driver's seat.
control elements
After the upgrade, you can switch on the heating and / or ventilation with an analogue +12V signal.
You can connect any control element that provides a +12V output signal.
If you select a control element, the appropriate connection cable for connection to the CAN gateway is included in the scope of delivery.
APP control
If you select ‘APP control’, you will receive the current APP control LTE. This means that the APP control supports 4G (LTE) in addition to 2G (GSM) and 3G (UMTS).
Multicontrol
If you select ‘Multicontrol’, you will receive the Multicontrol ‘CAR’. You can use it to switch the heating on and off directly and also specify 3 switch-on times.
T99
If you select ‘T99’, you will receive the original Webasto T99 radio remote control. The maximum range is specified as 1000m. A hand-held transmitter is included in the scope of delivery.
Switch
If you select ‘Switch’, you will receive the DANHAG rocker switch. The connection cable is approx. 250cm long. The switch has a diameter of 19mm.

Quote from the Webasto upgrade documentation for water heater Thermo Top Evo (OE) VW T6.1
‘During parking heater operation, components of the vehicle's own air conditioning system are activated. Other vehicle components remain inactive, which may be interpreted as an error and stored as a corresponding message in the event memory. Increased power consumption (quiescent current) can also be displayed in some vehicles. If faulty installation can be ruled out, these entries relate exclusively to the situation in parking heater mode and have no effect on the vehicle's functions when driving.’
