W-Bus / CAN converter

Control every Thermotop-V simply via +12V signal

Almost every new car comes with an auxiliary heater, mostly a TT-C or TT-V. This heaters are not controlled via a simple +12V signal anymore. They are activated via the W-Bus or CAN-Bus system.

If you want to use this heater with an older car which do not support W-Bus or CAN-Bus, you need an additional control unit, such as our W-Bus/CAN-converter.

Theory of operation

Our W-Bus/CAN-converter enables you to control a W-Bus or CAN-Bus heater by a simply +12V signal. As long as the control input is provided with +12V, the heater ist running. Further more, you can select a delay for the heater blower.

Depending on the outside temperature, it will take the heater about 5 to 10 minutes to heat up the coolant. To save battery-power, the heater blower should switched on with a delay of 5 to 10 minutes.

Parking-heater vs auxiliary heater

The original auxiliary heater is a fully functional parking heater, but it only works at temperatures below 5°C while the engine is running. If you want to use the auxiliary heater as parking heater, you have three possibilities. Firstly, you can ask your garage to unlock the parking heater funktion. Secondly, you can create a simply circuit which simulates a running engine and a temperature below 5°C. Thirdly, you can use our W-Bus/CAN-Converter or our GSM-Remote-Control.

Our W-Bus/CAN-converter allows you to use your auxiliary heater as parking heater.

Advantages

  • new heaters offer a higher efficiency, the coolant reach its temperature quite faster.
  • auxiliary heaters are available at breakers yards almost for free.
  • You can still use an already existing timer or remote-control

Auxiliary heaters, available at breakers yards, seldom comes with the metering pump. Metering pumps from other heaters are not working with the TT-V. You will find the suitable pump at our shop.
